Be a part of something groundbreaking.
Study-abroad is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to immerse yourself in another culture — so why spend it in a dorm full of people from your own country? At Xingwei College, international students attend the same classes and stay in the same residence halls as their Chinese peers, establishing genuine, lasting bonds.
Xingwei is an exciting place to be: this is the college that introduced a liberal arts-based higher education to China. This is your opportunity to be a part of something groundbreaking, to help to shape the character of our growing campus.
At Xingwei College, you’ll enroll in small, seminar-style classes alongside Chinese students, and you’ll discuss things that matter. Classes like “Comparative Political Theory: China and the West,” team-taught by faculty from political science and philosophy. Or “Issues in International Business.” Or “Religions of Shanghai.”
Don’t want to spend a whole semester in one place? Xingwei College uses a block system to schedule courses, so may join us at three different times in any given semester and stay for 5, 10, or a full-semester 15-weeks.
Xingwei College is based in Nanhui, a southern suburb of Shanghai (very close to Pudong International Airport). Getting to the city center from here costs less than a cup of coffee, and it presently takes about an hour. By the end of 2013, the spectacular Shanghai subway system will link our town (by the fastest train in its network) to the city center.
That means access to more than great coffee: Shanghai is a bustling, cosmopolitan metropolis, with lively arts and music scenes, world-class shopping, and great cafes, restaurants, and street food.
Scholarship support is available
A semester at Xingwei College, including a very comfortable shared room, costs about US $20,000, or $6,500 for each 5-week block. We know it’s not cheap, but what we offer here is unlike anything else in the world.
We do want good international students on our campus, however, and we are willing to support those students whose academic and extracurricular records demonstrate that they have something to contribute to the Xingwei community.
